Frequently Asked Questions

General Information

What is PressurePoint Weather?
PressurePoint Weather is a privacy-focused iOS app designed to help you anticipate when shifting atmospheric conditions may increase the risk of weather-related health symptoms. Whether you manage migraines, arthritis, fibromyalgia, or joint pain, the app tracks the specific environmental variables — such as barometric pressure, temperature, and humidity — that matter most to your well-being. The app uses a science-backed algorithm to analyze local weather data, which is refreshed approximately every 15 minutes. By providing intuitive, color-coded risk alerts based on your specific condition, PressurePoint empowers you to stay informed of elevated risk periods throughout the day without compromising your personal data.
What weather conditions does PressurePoint monitor?
PressurePoint tracks five key environmental variables that are frequently associated with health triggers. Our systems analyze these metrics every 15 minutes to provide a timely assessment:
  • Barometric Pressure Change: Specifically monitoring significant shifts (rises or falls) over a 6 hour window.
  • Absolute Barometric Pressure: The current weight of the atmosphere in your local area.
  • Temperature: Tracking both extremes and rapid fluctuations.
  • Humidity: Monitoring moisture levels that can influence comfort and inflammation.
  • Wind Speed: Assessing how air movement may compound other environmental factors.
Customized Analysis: Rather than a “one size fits all” approach, each factor is weighted differently based on the condition you are monitoring — whether it’s migraines, arthritis, fibromyalgia, or joint pain. This ensures your risk alerts are relevant to your specific health needs.
How accurate is the risk assessment?
PressurePoint Weather provides an assessment of environmental risk, not a medical diagnosis. Our algorithm is based on established research regarding atmospheric triggers for migraines, arthritis, fibromyalgia, and joint pain. While the app identifies periods of elevated risk by analyzing weather data every 15 minutes, it is important to remember:
  • Environmental Sensitivity: Weather is just one of many potential triggers. Individual responses to atmospheric changes vary from person to person.
  • A Precision Tool: The app is designed to help you stay informed and proactive by identifying when conditions reach levels commonly associated with physical discomfort.
  • Not a Guarantee: An “Elevated” risk alert indicates that the environment is currently in a state that often triggers symptoms; it is not a guarantee that symptoms will occur.
Is PressurePoint Weather a medical device?
No. PressurePoint Weather is a health-tech utility and informational tool; it is not a medical device. The app is designed to help you track environmental patterns and is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent migraines, arthritis, fibromyalgia, joint pain, or any other medical condition. Always seek the advice of your physician or another qualified healthcare provider with any questions you may have regarding a medical condition.

Privacy & Data

How does PressurePoint Weather protect my privacy?
At PressurePoint, we follow a “Privacy First” architecture that prioritizes anonymity:
  • No User Accounts: You remain anonymous from the moment you download the app.
  • Data Minimization: We only store the bare essentials needed to send you alerts — an anonymous push notification token and your selected condition.
  • Anonymized Location: We only use location coordinates reduced to two decimal places. This ensures your precise home or office address is never known to us or stored on our servers.
  • Environmental Focus: We never collect, store, or transmit health data, symptoms, or medical records.
  • Secure Infrastructure: All data is managed through Cloudflare’s secure network.
Does PressurePoint share data with third parties?
No. Your personal data is not for sale. We do not share, sell, or transmit your data to advertisers or trackers. We only interact with external systems to provide the service:
  • Weather Data Provider: We send your truncated location to our Weather Data Provider to fetch atmospheric data. No personal identifiers are sent.
  • Secure Infrastructure: Our APIs are hosted on our secure cloud servers to ensure encrypted, high-performance data transmission.
  • Push Notifications: We use an anonymous token provided by Apple that is not linked to your identity.

Subscriptions & Features

What’s the difference between the Free and Premium versions?
PressurePoint offers three tiers ranging from manual checks to automated monitoring:
  • Free: Designed for users who prefer to manually open the app to check current risk levels.
  • Plus ($2.99/mo): Adds automated background monitoring every 15 minutes and sends Smart Alerts automatically when risks are elevated.
  • Pro ($3.99/mo): Our most comprehensive tier. Includes everything in Plus, adds a 3-day risk outlook for planning, and grants priority access to our support team.
What notifications will I receive?
If you have a Plus or Pro subscription, you will receive “Smart Alerts” whenever the environmental risk for your selected condition reaches Moderate, High, or Very High. You can customize these in Settings to toggle between all elevated risks or only High/Very High alerts.
How do I manage or cancel my subscription?
All transactions are handled securely by Apple. To manage your subscription:
  1. Open the Settings app on your iPhone.
  2. Tap your Apple ID at the top.
  3. Tap Subscriptions.
  4. Select PressurePoint Weather.
  5. Tap Cancel Subscription.

Performance & Compatibility

Does PressurePoint Weather work internationally?
Yes. It works globally using high-quality atmospheric data. We recommend using the free version first to verify that weather data is accurately populating for your specific location before upgrading.
Will PressurePoint Weather drain my battery?
PressurePoint is designed for minimal power consumption. Most of the work happens on our secure servers, not your phone. We do not perform continuous GPS tracking, and we use data caching to reduce network requests.
What iOS version does PressurePoint require?
PressurePoint Weather is optimized for modern iPhones and requires iOS 17.0 or later (recommended) to ensure the best performance for charts, icons, and background tasks.
Is PressurePoint Weather available on Android?
Currently, PressurePoint is available exclusively for iOS to take full advantage of Apple’s privacy and notification frameworks. We are actively gauging interest for an Android version based on user demand.

Troubleshooting & Support

What if the risk assessment doesn’t match my experience?
Environmental triggers are highly personal. Use the app as a baseline to identify your own sensitivities. We are actively working on a “Personal Sensitivity” feature for a future update. If you notice a consistent pattern the app isn’t flagging, please let us know.
Can I use PressurePoint alongside other health apps?
Absolutely! PressurePoint focuses exclusively on the environmental side of health, which is the “missing link” in many symptom trackers. It runs independently and won’t conflict with other apps.
How can I provide feedback or report issues?
