About Pressure Point Weather

Our Mission

Pressure Point Weather was created with a simple but important goal: to help people who suffer from weather-sensitive migraines stay ahead of their condition without compromising their privacy.

We believe that effective migraine management shouldn't require sharing your personal health information with third parties. That's why we built Pressure Point Weather to monitor environmental triggers rather than tracking your symptoms, medications, or medical history.

The Problem We're Solving

For millions of people worldwide, weather changes aren't just an inconvenience—they're a migraine trigger. Sudden drops in barometric pressure, temperature swings, high humidity, and strong winds can all contribute to debilitating migraine episodes.

Traditional migraine apps often require you to log symptoms, medications, and personal health data, creating privacy concerns and HIPAA compliance requirements. Many users simply want weather alerts without the complexity of comprehensive health tracking.

Our Approach

Pressure Point Weather takes a different approach:

How We Calculate Risk

Pressure Point Weather monitors five key atmospheric conditions that research has linked to migraine triggers:

  1. Barometric Pressure Changes: Rapid pressure drops (especially >3 hPa per hour) are weighted most heavily in our algorithm.
  2. Absolute Pressure: Low pressure systems (<1010 hPa) can trigger migraines.
  3. Temperature Extremes: Very cold (<10°C) or very hot (>30°C) temperatures.
  4. Humidity Levels: High humidity (>70%) or very dry air (<30%).
  5. Wind Speed: Strong winds (>20 mph) can be triggers for some people.

Each factor is scored from 0-4, weighted based on research significance, and combined into an overall risk score that updates throughout the day.

Privacy & Security

Your privacy is our top priority:

The Science Behind Pressure Point Weather

Our risk algorithm is informed by peer-reviewed research on weather-related migraine triggers, including:

While Pressure Point Weather provides scientifically-informed risk assessments, it's important to remember that migraine triggers vary between individuals. Our app allows you to customize sensitivity settings to better match your personal experience.
